REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Oct. 14, 2020 – Avast (LSE:AVST), a global leader in cybersecurity and privacy products, today announced that it has been named the winner of the “Consumer CyberSecurity Solution of the Year” award in the fourth annual CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards program conducted by CyberSecurity Breakthrough, a leading independent market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global information security market today. This is Avast’s second consecutive CyberSecurity Breakthrough award as the company was also the winner of “Antivirus Software of the Year” in 2019.
Avast's threat detection network uses machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to detect and stop threats in real time, defending against viruses, ransomware, malware, zero-day threats, home Wi-Fi network vulnerabilities, and more. By offering layered security as well as a wide variety of bonus features like browser-independent protection against dangerous URLs and a network security inspector, Avast makes security easily accessible to anyone and on any platform, including Windows, iOS, macOS and Android.
This year’s update to Avast Free Antivirus includes an advanced ransomware shield (previously only available in Premium), USB drive protection, botnet protection and improved Web Shield scans. An upgrade from Avast Free to Avast Premium Security makes it even easier for consumers to protect all of their devices with a new Multi-Device subscription, allowing protection on up to 10 devices. With all-new remote access shield, an advanced firewall, ransomware protection, sensitive data shield and more, Avast Premium Security adds another layer of protection.
The latest addition to Avast’s security product suite is Avast Omni, which extends protection beyond standard endpoints into the realm of Internet of ThingsIoT. Omni plugs into the back of a home router and protects all devices connected to it, such as smart speakers or smart cameras, that aren’t able to download antivirus software like a computer or phone. Additionally, Avast Omni offers parental family safety controls for online family safety, such as device tracking, content filtering, and screen time limits, that extends further past protection and into a device that helps to manage overall consumer digital health.
“In light of explosive growth of connected devices and an increasing amount of personal information and sensitive data stored digitally, consumers are facing an incredibly complex threat landscape that most are simply unprepared to protect themselves against,” said James Johnson, managing director, CyberSecurity Breakthrough. “Avast is a pioneering leader in the consumer cybersecurity space and their product provides a level of privacy, security, and performance that help protect and empower consumers for today’s complex threat landscape. We extend a hearty congratulations to Avast for winning our ‘Consumer CyberSecurity Solution of the Year’ award for 2020.”
